Alvast een voorproefje voor kerstmis. Christmas preview.

Over beide diagonalen doorsnijden. Vier losse creme vierkantjes erbij. Ster alvast leggen.

I've seen a fun and fast way to make these stars. Make combinations of two with your three colours, right sides together. In my case, cream/red, cream/green, red/green. Sew all around the edge. Cut over both diagonals.Four separate cream squares added. Lay out the star. Sew patch 1 from horizontal row 1 to patch 2 from horizontal row 1. Chainpiece patch 1 from horizontal row 2 to patch 2 from horizontal row 2 etc. untill patch 4. No cutting of threads. Sew patch 3 from horizontal row 1 to patch 2 (and 1) from horizontal row 1, untill patch 4 to patch 3(and 2 and 1) from horizontal row 4. Still no cutting threads. Turn the whole thing, make sure everything turned the right direction and sew the rows together. Because everything is already stuck together, there's no need for pinning. One block finished in half an hour, included ironing and everything.

Off the Wall Het Heelal. Off the Wall The Universe.

A nice idea and a slightly timeconsuming technique from Intuitive Color and Design, by Jean Wells. I also read an article about it in a magazine, but I forgot in which one exactly. Should you really want to know, just leave me a message, so I can look into it.

The used technique entails more than just sewing straight pieces together. The pieces are loosely cut without a ruler, not completely straight by choice, to get a more playfull effect. The Off the Wall quilt is a quilt pulled around a painters stretched canvas. It becomes a thick quilt. Nice to hang, or just put in a cupboard or cabinet. Quite funny. It adds a nice touch to the room.

Kroningsquiltje achterkant. Coronationquilt backside.

The Coronationquilt has a nice backside, I just forgot to put it online.

Stof verven. Dyeing fabric.

Finally I gathered enougd courage to start dyeing my own fabric. I had the dye just sitting and collecting dust in my cupboard for about three years, but I just couldn't take the first step. Until I read something about dyeing with ferns, salt and sun.

These first pictures are taken while the sun is burning the patterns in the fabric and the salt is pulling the dye into patterns. The next pictures are the results.

Kroningsquiltje. Coronationquilt.

I just couldn't leave it be. Everything around is turning orange, and I joyfully joined in. A small coronation quilt. Half a day of work and voila.

Mysterie 2013 deel 5 en 6. Mystery parts 5 and 6.

Parts 5 and 6, appliqued, and photographed. Part 5, the flower with the little gap in the petal is really fun to do. The gap is at first a challenge, but after a few it's not a biggie. Part 6, well, it should have been very easy. And it was. I was proud to finally have something finished in time. So I'm looking at my friends hearts at the quiltbee and I noticed she was doing them on point. Hmm. At that moment I was still not to worried, I thought, well, I'll be having a variation in my mystery. But alass, Francoise said it's possible, but a bit of a pity with the hearts not on point. Shoot. So now, I'm redoing the hearts. I will be using these hearts in another piece, though. I already had the fabric on the back removed, so I couldn't reuse the backgroundfabric.

Tangled Stars Pillow Tangled Stars kussentjes

Finally I made the pillowcasings for on the sofa. My DH can be happy. He never really did like the ones I made first, so now he finally can enjoy some really nice ones. I do have to admit that for the first ones, I just layed the pillows on the fabric, cut out some parts and sew everything together. No measuring, no pattern, no nothing. Just very quick in a nice colour. But now we are the proud owners of two foundationpieced Tangled Stars.
